Anna is originally from Minnesota and is a Carleton alum. After college, she moved to Madison, WI, where she worked as a software developer at Epic for 2 years and then completed her PhD (UW-Madison). She is excited to be back in Minnesota!
This year, Anna is teaching Programming Languages, Machine Learning, and Intro to CS. Her research focuses on fairness and explainability issues in machine learning. If you’re interested in AI but concerned about some of the unintended consequences, she’d love to chat with you.
Outside of work, Anna’s favorite pastime is cross-country skiing. She’s hoping for lots of snow this winter to be able to enjoy the trails in the arb. Anna also enjoys running, biking, and food (both cooking and eating). On the weekends, you’ll find her trying new restaurants and coffee shops in Minneapolis. Feel free to swing by her office, Olin 301C, to say hi or to chat!
