Chelsey is originally from Wisconsin and, after attending college (UW Eau Claire) and teaching grades 6-12 there, moved across the border to Minnesota (PhD from UMN Twin Cities). She decided that Minnesota’s a great place to be and is thrilled to continue living here.
Chelsey is looking forward to teaching many CS courses here at Carleton. This year you’ll find her teaching Computability and Complexity, Intro to CS, and Making Decisions with Artificial Intelligence. As her research interest is in the field of robotics, with past research focussing on improving diver collaboration with Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), she’s looking forward to incorporating some intersections between Robotics and AI. If you have any interest in underwater robotics, robot perception (computer vision), or building an AUV, please reach out!
In her free time, you might see Chelsey hiking, running, or maybe cross-country skiing on some local trails. If not outdoors, she’s probably baking, playing video games, or working on some sort of craft project. Feel free to stop by her office (Olin 301E) to chat!
