UW-Madison: Statistics Department Professional Degree Programs
In the growing field of data analysis, statistics and data science are tools that help us extract and analyze data. The Department of Statistics has two Statistics & Data Science professional graduate programs for students seeking careers in data science. Register for a Zoom session to learn more.
MS Statistics, Statistics and Data Science (MSDS) Information Session combines a background in statistical theory, methods, and practice related to data science. Graduates will build data analytic reasoning and communication skills in realistic inter-professional strategic planning settings that involve making sense of complex data to realize organizational objectives. MS Data Science focuses on the computer science and statistical elements of data science with an emphasis on machine learning. Graduates can seek employment as data analysts and data scientists, or pursue further education in data science, statistics, computer science, or related quantitative and computational fields. Median time to degree is two years; UW-Madison alumni may be eligible to pursue an accelerated pathway.
