  • Register for the GeMMS Winter Break Book Club (deadine to register is 11/10). Readers, mathematicians, STEM enthusiasts, or boba lovers, wanting a break from reading your textbooks? You’re invited to join the
GeMMS Book Club! This Winter Break, we’re reading Notes on Infinity by Austin Taylor—an exciting blend of chemistry, math, and implications of the infinite in a finite world. Taylor balances concepts of identity with the beauty of science and mathematics, into a narrative that’s both vulnerably human and thought-provokingly (and delightfully!) nerdy. Then, when winter term begins (Week 1 Thursday over Common Time), we’ll meet to discuss the book—with emphasis on its themes of identity and truth in STEM—accompanied by boba and snacks! Note that students can request a free copy of “Notes on Infinity” from GeMMS (though these copies are limited to the first 20 people); additionally, students and faculty can also supply their own copy of the book to read over break. Students who request a copy from GeMMS will receive an additional email with details of when/where to pick up the book. Everyone is welcome—whether you love proofs, books, or just want an excuse
to read something new and drink boba.
