The flight software team at Firefly Aerospace in Austin, TX is looking for a new grad (class of ’25) to write C++ code to control our spacecraft. You may have seen us in the news a few weeks ago for our Blue Ghost lunar lander’s successful touchdown in Mare Crisium.

You would be involved in the design, development, testing and operations of future spacecraft, and your code will run on vehicles during all phases of the mission. You’ll work closely with the guidance, navigation and control team, as well as the ground software team, writing mission-critical C++ code.

Desired hard skills include: memory management, clean coding practices, basic Linux experience, basic Make or CMake experience, and basic git knowledge.

The soft skills are more important: understanding complex systems, communicating clearly about difficult problems, working under tight deadlines, and being part of a team. Not a problem for Carls!

This would be a good fit for someone at Carleton who has done competitive programming or high school robotics, worked on the CARS project, written video games or done some internship in C++. Very good command of C may be acceptable too.

Absolutely no previous aerospace experience is necessary!

If you’re interested, reach out to zimri.leisher@gmail.com, (Zimri Leisher, class of ’23)

There are multiple job openings and internships.
