The University of Minnesota – Twin Cities is excited to announce our first AI for Earth Summer School focusing on analyzing large datasets using AI and Machine Learning for Earth and Environmental Science. There will be lectures, training sessions, and group projects. Applications are open now through March 21, 2025.
Summary of the program’s features:
- 8-week research program: June 9 – Aug 1, 2025. The first 7 weeks will be virtual, and the last week will be in-person at the UMN campus.
- Participants receive a $2,000 stipend paid in installments throughout the summer. For the in-person week: students will be provided with housing in university dorms, meal plans, and reimbursement for travel expenses.
- Prof. Vipin Kuman will lead the summer school in the Computer Science and Engineering Department.
- Participants will conduct research to work with large datasets using AI/ML to address societal challenges.
Logistics:
- Application deadline: March 21, 2025
- Notification: March 28, 2025 (students will be notified whether they were accepted into the program).
- Program dates: June 9 – Aug 1, 2025.
- Initial review of applications will begin on March 10 till March 21. However, we will continue to accept new applications and recommendation letters until the program is full, so please consider applying even after this date!
