Design Interns
Design Services Team, SAP
Location: Palo Alto, CA and Walldorf, Germany
Duration: 3-6 months

Do you want to be part of a fast-paced, innovation-driven strategic design team to influence one of the largest software companies with User-Centered Design Thinking?

The Design Services Team of SAP is looking for 3-6-month summer interns for both our Palo Alto labs in California and our Walldorf headquarters in Germany.

About SAP
With 12 million users, 100,600 installations, and more than 1,500 partners, SAP is the world’s largest inter-enterprise software company and the world’s third-largest independent software provider overall. Today, SAP employs more than 34,000 people in more than 50 countries.

About Design Services Team
The Design Services Team (DST) is SAP’s internal design consulting service providing support to the SAP Executive Management Team. The DST works on design projects supporting corporate strategy, operational efficiency and organization effectiveness. Projects are typically sponsored by the Executive Board.

Design Interns work with our multi-disciplinary team and our clients, following DST’s Human-Centered Design Process. Our process involves observing users, gathering insights from them and other creative perspectives, exploring design directions through brainstorming and prototyping, collaborating with cross-organizational teams to resolve technical and business constraints, creating tangible communication work to help executives making strategic decision.

All intern candidates must:

  • be passionate about your work and area of study;
  • have a clear point of view related to your design;
  • possess excellent people skills. Be a team player with openness, respect, support and constructive feedbacks;
  • thrive in fussy front-end design challenges;
  • possess startup mentality (self-starter, proactive and flexible) to drive for excellent outcomes in a fast-paced, high-demanding environment;

Bonus points, but not required, if you had experience in enterprise application, software/hardware development, or if you have had large organizational experiences.

In addition to the fundamental design thinking criteria above, we are interested in individuals in the following areas:

  • Product Design/Design Planning
  • Interaction Design
  • Human Factors
  • Industrial Design
  • Graphic Design

If this sounds like a place to spend your summer this year, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your resume and samples of your work to: Loren Woo, ’93 at loren.woo@sap.com.
