Photo, Video, and Interview Practices During the Pandemic

College Communications has a responsibility to limit unnecessary interactions between students, faculty, and staff on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to support all community members’ adherence to the Carleton Community Covenant. As such, we will not bring together groups of students, faculty, or staff outside their usual activities; we will not ask on-campus students to participate in off-campus photo or video shoots or interviews; and we will not capture or use photographs of students, faculty, or staff unmasked in indoor spaces outside of their own residence.

As part of the Division of External Relations, our priority is promoting Carleton beyond campus, though we do help with projects for internal audiences as time and resources permit. In order to do our best work, we need adequate time to place your project into our workflow, create attractive and functional materials that meet your goals and uphold Carleton’s standards, and address the logistical requirements of our vendors.

Use these guidelines to determine the minimum time our team will need from initial consultation to delivery:

  • Reprints & minor updates to existing print materials: 2-4 weeks
  • Major overhaul of existing print materials: 8-10 weeks
  • New print materials: 4-10 weeks
  • New multi-piece series or campaign: 12 weeks
  • New photography: 2 weeks
  • New videography: 4 weeks
  • New website: 4 weeks
