Dan Apfel’s Visit: Dan Apfel is coming to Carleton in early April, and he has agreed to do a public event.  We should call the event something short and catchy, such as “Ethical Investment and College Endowments.”  We can house him at the alumni guest house, and he can eat with us in the LDC.  We can get him to and from the twin cities on Northfield Lines.  Forrest McKnight is in St. Paul and he could possibly visit Macalaster in the coming days.

We also want to have a conference call with the Responsible Endowments Coalition.  Fadi will put up a doodle so that members can post what times they are available.

Implementing the Policy: We have finalized our procedure for implementing the new proxy policy: every month we will send a spreadsheet to the investment office with a list of resolutions.  We also recently discovered that we are getting the wrong alerts on EthVest; we need to change our alerts settings to reflect the stocks we own now.  Ellen will keep track of new resolutions over break.

Future Plans: Fadi talked to Steven Poskanzer about the possibility of an SRI fund.  He was ambivalent on this idea, but he did suggest that CRIC might pursue more negative investment opportunities.  He said that it might be possible to implement some sort of investment screen, but it would have to be for a very clear and non-controversial issue; previous experience suggests that getting a screen would be an uphill battle.

Next year, there will be a personnel change: Daniel Groll is leaving, and David Tompkins is returning.  Kristen is also retiring from CRIC.  We will probably have to do some new recruitment in the spring.

We decided not to meet next week.
