Today, the CRIC met for the last time this term. First of all, the committee addressed following up on shareholder resolutions. Dates of shareholder meetings should begin to be available, so all committee members are to check on their companies and report dates, if published, to Kristen. That way, Kristen can inform the Investment Committee. If meeting dates are not yet available, CRIC members can report approximate dates based on last year’s meetings. Shannon will keep an eye on the companies over spring break.

Kristen then outlined goals the CRIC may have for next term. These goals included creating and distributing another survey to gauge the values of the Carleton community, tabling in Sayles to publicize the committee, writing the end-of-year report, and participating in the nomination process of new CRIC members in the spring. Afterward, the committee discussed expanding the role of CRIC in several ways. Kristen listed pushing for further transparency, looking at the college’s mission statement (and other documents) to distill the values of the college, increasing interaction with the Trustees, and communicating with and researching peer institutions and their responsible investment committees.

In general, the committee responded favorably to these ideas, and members formed three sub-committees for next term: one in charge of drafting the survey and tabling, one in charge of researching peer institutions, and one looking at Carleton’s mission statement.

CRIC members are to send their spring schedules to Kristen so that she can find a meeting time for next term.
