Goal of Workshop 2.1
Define Carleton’s role in addressing environmental impacts on people and society
Tasks & Discussion Questions:
Discuss goals and strategies for:
- Defining intersections between environmental, social, and racial justice
- Carleton’s role in local / regional issues and solutions
- Carleton’s role in national / global issues and solutions
- Investing and divesting
Discussion Questions:
- How do we define environmental justice from a Carleton perspective?
- How does this definition shift the lens through which we view the Carleton climate action plan – both the operations/carbon reduction piece and the curriculum/education piece?
- How can we integrate environmental justice concepts throughout the plan?
- A “people, planet, profit” justification for each section?
- An overarching environmental justice mission statement or one for each section?
- What are some tangible actions that can be taken and/or written into the plan?
