The weekly convocation series is a shared campus experience that brings students, faculty, and staff together for a lecture or presentation from specialists in a variety of disciplines. The goal of the convocation series is to stimulate thought and conversation on a wide range of subjects.
The committee reviews convocation suggestions from students, faculty, and staff.
Faculty: Two faculty members serve on this committee. Each are appointed by the Faculty Affairs Committee to serve a two-year term.
Staff: An Associate Dean of Students chairs this committee. The Associate Vice President for External Relations and the Director of College Events serve on this committee in an ex officio capacity.
Students: At least two student-at-large members serve on this committee. Each are appointed by the Carleton Student Association each fall to serve during the upcoming academic year.
The committee, chaired and convened by the Associate Dean of Students, meets once per term to discuss the list of potential convocation presenters, based on suggestions from the campus community. To submit a recommendation for a potential speaker please complete the suggestion form.
The Director of College Events shares the list of selected speakers with the campus community at the beginning of each term. The names are also published on the campus calendar of events.
