Mission
The weekly convocation series is a shared campus experience that brings students, faculty, and staff together for a lecture or presentation from specialists in a variety of disciplines. The goal of the convocation series is to stimulate thought and conversation on a wide range of subjects.
The committee reviews convocation suggestions from students, faculty, and staff.
Membership
Faculty: Two faculty members serve on this committee. Each are appointed by the Faculty Affairs Committee to serve a two-year term.
Staff: The Director of the Office of Intercultural Life chairs this committee. Two additional staff members include the Associate Vice President for External Relations and the Manager of Conferences and Event Services.
Students: At least two student-at-large members serve on this committee. Each are appointed by the Carleton Student Association in the fall to serve during the upcoming academic year.
Committee Work
The committee, chaired and convened by the Director of the Office of Intercultural Life, meets once per term to discuss the list of potential convocation presenters, based on suggestions from the campus community. To submit a recommendation for a potential speaker please complete the suggestion form.
