At the September 28, 2009 meeting of the College Council Becky Zrimsek proposed a change to the spouse/domestic partner Carleton tuition waiver benefits for biweekly staff. A friendly amendment was proposed by Professor Mark Kanazawa, who noted that the faculty handbook regarding tuition waiver benefits does not specifically mention domestic partners. Dean Bev Nagel seconded this, noting that there were a few discrepancies between the faculty and staff handbooks, and that this problem should be corrected. The proposal, with the noted issues regarding faculty and staff handbooks, was approved unanimously by the College Council and will be sent as a recommendation to the Benefits Committee for adoption and implementation.
