Over 75% of Carleton’s class of 2020 returned to campus Aug. 11-14, 2022 for a special Class of 2020 Celebration. The college hosted for them a long-awaited in-person commencement celebration—which boasted over 1,000 guests—as well as a collection of hallmark spring events that the class missed out on due to COVID-19. Events included condensed versions of Rotblatt, Spring Concert and Farmstock, along with Senior Banquet, Last Chance Dance, a Hill of Three Oaks bonfire, a faculty and staff reception and a reception at Dacie Moses’ House.

During the celebration ceremony on the Bald Spot, President Alison Byerly addressed the class along with President Emeritus Steven Poskanzer, who was president when the class of 2020 attended Carleton. Anesu Masakura ’20, who served as president for the Carleton Student Association (CSA) Senate as a student, also spoke. The ceremony was live-streamed and archived so family and friends could share in the experience wherever they were in the world. John Mullan ’20, who served as treasurer for the CSA Senate as a student, spoke at Senior Banquet the previous night along with President Byerly.
