Field Trip to attend The Barber of Seville - Ordway Center for Performing Arts
Escape the mid-spring term blues with a dose of laughter and romance! Join us for a FREE field trip to see the dress rehearsal of Rossini’s beloved opera, The Barber of Seville, (remember Figaro, from the Bugs Bunny’s episode?) at the Ordway Music Theater in Saint Paul. The bus will depart from the Willis Hall bus stop at 9 am and return to Carleton by 2:00 pm.

Where love is concerned, too much is not even enough. Rosina is young, clever, and wealthy, but her greedy guardian desires her and her fortune for himself. Using her wits to outsmart him and find her true love, she enlists Figaro, the mischievous and well-connected local barber, who has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Plans go awry (resulting in several close shaves) against the backdrop of Gioacchino Rossini’s iconic score.
No prior knowledge of the opera is needed! To learn more about this well-loved opera and its history, Professors Cecilia Cozzi, Katharine Hargrave, and Brooke Okazaki will give a short pre-performance talk.
