Dress Rehersals of the Minnesota Opera's “Romèo et Juliette”
Who can resist the timeless beauty of Romeo and Juliet? The tale of the two star-crossed lovers continues moving audiences and never loses its magic: Minnesota Opera knows it well and has decided to open its 2024/2025 season with Gounod’s “Romèo et Juliette.” Students at Carleton have the unique opportunity of witnessing this masterpiece from backstage, by attending the company’s dress rehearsal on October 31st. The performance, starting at 11 am, will be preceded by a brief talk by Visiting Professor Cecilia Cozzi (in collaboration with Assistant Professor Katharine Hargrave), tracing the ancient origins of a never ending dilemma: can love really conquer all and overcome any obstacle? Let’s find it out together, in a fascinating multidisciplinary experience between literature and music.
Please fill out the Field Trip Interest Form by October 9th.
