Sarah Abdel-Jelil ’16 and Gisell Calderon ’16 receive 2019 Artist Residency

13 September 2018

Sarah Abdel-Jelil ’16 and Gisell Calderon ’16 were awarded a 2019 Artist Residency at Caldera (Sisters, OR) and they will spend the month of February at foothills of the Cascade Mountains delving deeper into the practice of dance time-lapse.

As artists, Gisell and Sarah are intrigued by using technology not to disconnect us from nature, but to invite us to slow down and reflect on our relationship with the world around us. They plan to produce a body of dance time-lapse experiments by the end of their residency period, meditating on nature, movement, and passing time. In addition, they will host workshops engaging the community of Sisters, OR, in dance time-lapse.
