Filmmaker Oscar Clemente Presents Animated Documentary Film

On Monday, October 6, Spanish filmmaker Oscar Clemente presented his 2011 film, Keep on Rolling: The Dream of the Automobile, in the Weitz Cinema, and on Wednesday, he was the featured guest at an informal CAMS Orange Couch Conversation. In just over a century, cars have completely transformed our way of life. The automobile drove us towards the dream of the consumer society. Nearly a hundred years later, this documentary reflects on the social and environmental consequences of the realization of this promise: A car for each individual and each pocketbook.

Keep on Rolling 

The documentary is based on a selection of interviews with several experts in different areas such as town planning, philosophy and engineering, which lead to a reflection on our daily lives and environment as a result of the car phenomenon. The story is told through animated cartoons and presents contemporary images as well as archival material from the 1950s.

Oscar Clemente, who holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication, has been writing and directing documentaries about social issues since 1995. His 12 projects to date have been broadcast on different European television outlets such as Canal Sur, Portuguese Radio and Television, Spanish International TV, BTV and Dutch VPRO Television. He has participated in more than 50 international film festivals and has won such awards as: Gold Panda at the Sichuan Film Festival (China); People’s Award at Documentamadrid 2007; Best Documentary at the Film Festival and Envirofilm Festival of Slovakia, among others.
