Cecilia Cornejo, part-time faculty in Cinema and Media Studies, premiered her feature-length documentary, WAYS OF BEING HOME ~ BETWEEN NORTHFIELD & MALTRATA, at the Minneapolis-St Paul International Film Festival MSPIFF39 Redefined, an online alternative to the much anticipated theatrical event, cancelled due to the COVID-19 crisis. The film was made in close collaboration with members of the Mexican community living in Northfield and with a significant contribution from CAMS senior Fernando Saldivia Yáñez who worked as cameraperson, sound recordist, and research assistant. Four years in the making, Ways of Being Home, moves between Northfield and Maltrata to draw attention to the geographical and emotional displacement experienced by the immigrant community as well as their resilience, ingenuity, and determination.
