Cecilia Cornejo, Instructor in Cinema and Media Studies, screened her feature documentary, Making Noise ~ The story of a skatepark, in Winona, as part of the Frozen River Film Festival, in February. Most recently, she was invited to present the film on March 20th at The Matthews Opera House & Arts Center in Spearfish, South Dakota, as part of their first ArtCentral Film Festival. As part of her visit, Cecilia met with students from the local middle school to discuss the crucial role that young people can play in the betterment of their community. She also gave two presentations at Black Hills State University, where she talked about her experience doing community-centered film work by means of a collaborative approach. Her visit was made possible in part by a Community Innovation Grant from the Bush Foundation.
