University of Michigan Biophysics REU Program – Extended Application Deadline of Feb. 28

14 February 2022

Our 10-week summer REU program will be held from June 6 – August 12, 2022 and is expected to be in person. The Interdisciplinary Biophysics Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program intends to provide opportunities for highly motivated and talented undergraduates interested in careers in the life sciences to enhance their science and research skills. Participants will gain valuable experience by performing full-time research under the direction of a faculty mentor in a research lab. The extended application deadline is February 28, 2022!
We provide each participant with a $5,000 stipend plus $500 to defray the cost of travel to/from Ann Arbor. This year, students will live in single-occupancy housing on campus. The main focus of the summer is for students to take part in full-time Biophysical research, but the program also provides:

  • Poster presentation and weekly seminars
  • Possible field trips, including Fermilab in Chicago
  • End of program Symposium

Eligibility:  The program is funded by the NIH, so only US citizens or permanent residents are eligible to participate. We especially seek undergraduate students who come from an educational, cultural, or geographic background that is underrepresented in the sciences.
