Undergraduate Internship Opportunity, Summer 2018, in Drug Discovery at AbbVie coordinated by Franciscan University of Steubenville

9 January 2018

You are invited to apply to the 2018 Franciscan-AbbVie, Undergraduate, Medicinal Chemistry, Neglected Disease Research, Summer Internship. This program is designed for both experienced and inexperienced research students with an interest in industrial research and/or outreach for the poor. And, we are now selecting participants for our 8th consecutive summer.

This internship is designed to give real-world research opportunities to undergraduates. This internship will give your students a chance to experience the pharmaceutical industry in a unique and student community focused educational experience. Eligible students have or will have completed a full year of Organic Chemistry by summer 2018. Preference will be given to Chemistry and Biochemistry majors interested in graduate school and/or industry, but the internship is not limited to those students. Please encourage strong pre-med, pre-health, and pre-professional students who excel in your organic chemistry courses and who are interested in more fully exploring this interface of their talents and interests to also apply.

I respectfully request that you consider sending the attached flier to all of your eligible students, invite you to share them in your classes, and ask that you encourage your students to consider applying. Because of the small number of schools where we advertise, the applicant pool is usually small compared to other similar summer internship programs and generally has a pretty high acceptance rate. We will be looking to send between six and eight interns for the summer of 2018. We have received wonderful feedback from interns over the years and look forward to another great summer!

Thank you for your time in reading this email. Feel free to email any questions and/or suggestion you may have and I look forward to applications from amongst your students!

Review of complete application packages will begin on February 2, 2018.

Sincerely,

Jeff
