May is typically the busiest hiring month for private/independent schools with administrators seeking to fill the last of the open jobs before summer break. While many private/independent schools are still looking for teachers, and there are still opportunities for graduating students, the time to apply is now.
Qualifications Schools are Looking For:
- If you studied biology, chemistry, physics, math, engineering, neuroscience, or other STEM fields, you skill set is in demand in schools.
- For secondary school, teaching certification is desirable but not required.
- You do need the ability and willingness to work with kids! Any camp counselor, coaching, or tutoring experience may be relevant work experience.
