How to Find a Summer Research Opportunity in Chemistry

14 January 2025

If you are a first-year, sophomore, or junior looking for a summer research experience in chemistry or a related field for the summer of 2025, these resources will help you find opportunities! Also feel free to ask faculty in the department for advice.

  • For research opportunities off campus: take a look at the Chemistry Department website, on the Research Opportunities page. Here you will find a presentation that we gave in November 2024 that walks through the process, as well as links to databases of research opportunities to help you search.
  • For research opportunities on campus with Chemistry Department faculty: attend the department seminar on Friday, Jan. 10 (3:30pm, AND 329) to learn about projects for which faculty are hiring this summer. A document describing these opportunities is posted on the Research Opportunities page and includes logistical details for applying.
  • The Weekly Beaker has a continually evolving list of research opportunities, mostly off campus. Click on the “Summer Research” tag on the right for a listing of research opportunities that we have publicized. Read the Beaker regularly for updates!
