Coe College 2019 REU

16 January 2019

Coe College, which has a long-standing tradition of chemistry, biology, and physics research with undergraduate students, is pleased to offer your students the opportunity to be part of our Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. The dates for this program, funded by the National Science Foundation, will be June 10 through August 9, 2019. Our nine week program focuses on spectroscopy in the areas of Optics, Material Science, Acoustics, Experimental and Computational Materials Science, Particle Detector Development, Astrophysics, Microbiology and Molecular Biology. All students will have the opportunity to work hands-on with modern instrumentation within their chosen project. Participants will learn about other spectroscopic techniques during the weekly seminar. All research will be conducted with faculty mentors and other highly motivated students. We are particularly interested in recruiting first-generation college students. Students will receive a stipend of $4,774, a course credit, and on-campus housing will be provided free of charge.

Applications may be found online at www.reu.coe.edu. Students interested in this opportunity should make sure the application and associated materials are received by February 15, 2019. If they would like additional information, they can contact Susan Noreuil by email, snoreuil@coe.edu, phone (319-399-8524), or they can visit www.reu.coe.edu.
