The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) Summer Internship Program provides opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in projects at federal research facilities located across the country focused on helping DNDO meet its mission of “implementing domestic nuclear detection efforts for a managed and coordinated response to radiological and nuclear threats, as well as integration of federal nuclear forensics programs.” This program will prepare a diverse, highly talented, educated, and skilled pool of scientists and engineers to address issues related to national security and nuclear detection and to enhance the future scientific and technical workforce to be both knowledgeable and trained in fields of specific interest to DNDO.

The Kolenkow-Reitz Fund provides student stipend and travel support for Carleton students working with non-Carleton science and math faculty at another institution during winter break.
The Towsley Endowment provides financial support for Carleton students working with Carleton science and math faculty on campus (or in the field) over winter break.

Funds must be used over Winter Break.Students completing COMPS in Fall, Winter, or Spring Terms of their senior year may apply. In addition to submitting the COMPS proposal, students must submit proof of IRB approval (if it is necessary for the project) and the COMPS advisor must submit a letter of support.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Twin Cities Professional Chapter (SHPE-TC) is dedicated to empowering our local Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and impact the Twin Cities through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) awareness, access, support and development. One of SHPE’s missions is to provide scholarships and mentoring to local Hispanic college and high school students pursuing STEM careers. The Chapter will be awarding multiple scholarships starting at $1,000.
