Volume 26, Number 17Erin McDuffie (’13) went from Carleton to CU-Boulder for a Ph.D. in atmospheric chemistry, where she focused on building and deploying instrumentation for atmospheric measurements. She then did a postdoc where her focus was on integrating aerosol particles into models of the atmosphere. Now she is a AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the US EPA. Come talk with her about her experiences, her path from Carleton to the EPA, and the intersection of science and policy! You can get a hot beverage and a cookie at the Shulze Cafe and put it on the Chemistry Department’s tab before joining Zoom to chat with Erin. She will be available for informal conversations from 2:45 – 3:20pm on Friday at this Zoom link (it’s the same as the seminar link!). Please stay for the seminar at 3:30pm.

Sign-up to Hear Professor Steve Drew to Speak at Macalester College
Volume 26, Number 3Every second year, Carleton and Macalester Chemistry faculty exchange a seminar. This year, our own Professor Steve Drew will be presenting his work on “Renewable Energy Storage: Applications of Electrochemistry” at Macalester on October 6, 2021. The seminar is at 3:30pm. If there is sufficient interest among students to attend this seminar (and drivers), we will organize vans to help students attend the talk. Please let us know if you are interested via this survey. You would need to be prepared to leave Carleton no later than 2:30pm and would likely return before 6pm. Macalester requires all campus visitors to be vaccinated and to wear masks at all times. Campus building access is controlled and instructions for getting access to the seminar will be provided once we know who is planning to attend.
