Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) is seeking forward-thinking, professionals interested in exploring a technical career as a Chemistry Analyst. The analyst will provide analytical support to a broad base of customers supporting various R&D and production activities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Successful candidate with be working with experienced scientists applying a variety analytical tools to tackle complex analytical problems on a variety of sample types.
- Use commonly utilized analytical tools which include gas and liquid chromatography (GC and LC), gas and liquid chromatography with mass spectrometric detection (GC/MS and LC/MS), and elemental analysis by inductively coupled plasma optical emission or mass spectrometry (ICP-OES or ICP-MS).
- Work will initially be directed and overseen by knowledgeable analysts and scientists. As experience is gained, work will become more independent with little direction when performing routine analytical measurements with appropriate technical supervision.
- May interface directly with a variety of laboratory R&D “customers” requesting analytical services, R&D project principal investigators and line management. Additional duties include report generation and providing materials for documentation.
- Maintain instrumentation in the laboratory and the laboratory itself is required. Applicant must have problem solving skills, be able to develop plans for implementation of experiments, and contribute to the analytical group planning.
- With experience, may serve as a laboratory space coordinator with all associated roles, responsibilities, accountabilities and authorities and or as a Principal Researcher for assigned work activities.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or biology.
