2018 Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT) conference (October 7 – 12)

23 August 2018

In October, hundreds of forensic toxicologists from around the world will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend the 2018 Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT) conference (October 7 – 12).  As part of the conference, we are inviting undergraduate and graduate students interested in forensic toxicology to take part in a one-day educational outreach program.  At this Student Enrichment Program (SEP), participants will engage with practicing forensic toxicologists and learn what this exciting discipline has to offer.   We respectfully request that you share the attached information about this program with anyone who may be interested.  Also, please send this information to any colleagues that may know of students interested in this type of program.

The SEP will take place Monday, October 8th, 2018 from 8am until 5pm at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis.  The program, including continental breakfast and lunch, are provided to accepted applicants at no cost; however, students are responsible for their own transportation and lodging, if needed.  Space is limited, so participants will be selected through an application process.  Applications can be completed online through the SOFT website and are due by August 31, 2018.

In addition, the 2018 SOFT conference planning committee is looking for volunteers to assist during the week of the conference.  Students would have access to the scientific sessions and poster presentations as well as the opportunity to develop contacts with toxicologists active in the field.  If you have students that would be interested in volunteering, they can contact Sarah Urfer or Sara Love at volunteers@soft-tox.org for more information.

Thank you for sharing this unique opportunity with your students.  To apply or for more information regarding the SEP and the 2018 SOFT Conference please visit our website http://www.soft-tox.org under the Young Forensic Toxicologists link under the Features tab.
