Lunch with Seminar Speaker on Friday
Lunch will be this Friday, September 22 at 1:10 – 2:20 pm in the LDC. Students on and off board are welcome. Meet in the hallway outside of Old Music Hall 103 to walk over to the LDC. I have reserved the “Class of ’51 dining room” for lunch today.

S&R: Science and Religion Discussion Group
Discussion Group is a place for people of different scientific, philosophical, and religious backgrounds to talk about the intersections between and contentious issues within science and religion. We meet Mondays at 7:00 pm in the Chapel Basement Lounge. Contact gillespiej, groshk, or quinterod with questions.

Carleton will again be participating in the Mayo Innovations Scholar Program this year. A Carleton team of two science and two economics students will research a proprietary innovation, working to understand the science and applications of the projects as well as analyze the market potential.
Note: If interested the application form/materials are due by 3pm on Monday, 9/25.

As always, we have a lot going on in the department. In particular, we have a great line up of seminars. You should make an effort to attend our Friday seminars (3:30 p.m., Music 103 or tba) whenever possible.

The fellowships are listed here: https://apps.carleton.edu/fellowships/carleton_fellowships/comps/ . Applications are due October 17, with a very quick turn-around on decisions by October 31. Funds must be used over Winter Break.
Students completing COMPS in Fall, Winter, or Spring Terms of their senior year may apply. In addition to submitting the COMPS proposal, students must submit proof of IRB approval (if it is necessary for the project) and the COMPS advisor must submit a letter of support.
