Professors Deborah Gross and Tsegaye Nega awarded second prize in the Fine Particle Art Contest

Deborah Gross, Charles “Jim” and Marjorie Kade Professor of the Sciences, and Tsegaye Nega, associate professor of environmental studies, were awarded second prize in the Fine Particle Art Contest, Macroscopic Scale at the American Association for Aerosol Research national conference, for their photograph illustrating the smoke emitted from cooking with a charcoal stove in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Gross also recently presented a poster titled, “Improved Biomass Stoves and and Improved Cooking Practices Contribute to Lowering PM2.5 Exposure in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia” with co-authors Nora Caballero ’23, Margaret Hall ’25, Ella Hein ’23, Austin Heuer ’19, Sophie McManus ’25, Audrey Parrott ’25, Alek Rabago ’23, and Amadou Touré ’25 at the American Association for Aerosol Research annual conference.
