Fri, February 9, 2024 • 3:30pm - 4:30pm (1h) • Anderson Hall 329

"Leveraging Cyclophane and 1,2,3-Triazole Synthesis to Prospect for Novel Atropisomeric Scaffolds, Fluorophores, and Colorimetric Sensors"

Macalester Exchange

Official/Unofficial Story

This seminar will feature an overview of research conducted by an undergraduate research group. Initial work toward novel organometallic cyclophanes and metal-mediated supramolecular self-assemblies led to a serendipitous reaction that motivated development of methods for desilylative Sonogashira cross coupling and desilylative 1,2,3-triazole synthesis. In turn, our foray into 1,2,3-triazole methodology has motivated prospecting efforts towards a novel atropisomeric bis-1,2,3-triazole scaffold and towards 1,2,3-triazole-derived fluorophores and selective colorimetric sensors.

*This seminar counts towards the chemistry major seminar attendance requirement.
