Supporting Our Own: Introducing the "Caring for Aging Parents" Group
Navigating the complexities of eldercare—from managing medical appointments and legal paperwork to the emotional weight of changing family roles—is a journey few of us are prepared for. Whether you are currently providing daily care for an aging parent, supporting an adult friend through a health crisis, or simply beginning to plan for the future, you don't have to manage it in isolation. We are pleased to announce the launch of Caring for Aging Parents, a new group specifically designed for the staff and faculty of Carleton College.
We hope to provide a dedicated space where we can find both practical resources and authentic peer support. By coming together, we can share vetted local resources, navigate insurance and healthcare hurdles, and offer a listening ear to those balancing professional excellence with personal sacrifice.
What to Expect:
Resource Sharing: Access to curated lists of local home-health services, elder law specialists, and respite care.
Regular Meet-ups: Informal gatherings to discuss challenges and successes.
Expert Guest Speakers: Occasional sessions with professionals in gerontology, financial planning, and mental health.
Taking care of those who once took care of us is a profound responsibility, but it can also be an exhausting one. We invite you to join us for our inaugural meeting to help shape this group into a community that truly serves your needs. Together, we can ensure that as we care for others, we are also caring for ourselves.
Join Us for Our First Meeting on Tuesday, June 2 at 12 p.m. in Room 117 at The Class of 1974 Center. Lunch will be provided.
