Muslim Eid al Fitr Celebration – Thursday, May 13, 2021

Eid al Fitr was celebrated at Carleton on Thursday, May 13, 2021. The celebration was led by Iman Jafri, Associate Chaplain for Muslim and Interfaith Life. An in-person gathering and meal on the lawn in front of the Chapel were part of the celebration.

Jewish Purim and Hindu Holi Celebration – March 6, 2021

The annual Jewish Purim and Hindu Holi Celebration was held on Saturday, March 6, 2021. It was led by Dr. Anantanand Rambachan, Professor at St. Olaf College, and Rabbi Shosh Dworsky, Associate Chaplain at Carleton College.

Black History Month Chapel Service – February 21, 2021

Our Black History Month Chapel Service was held on February 21 via Zoom. The guest speaker was journalist Isma’il Kushkush on “The Evolving Malcolm X.” Special music was provided by the north Minneapolis youth choir, Known MPLS.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Service of Celebration and Remembrance – January 17, 2021

The annual service of remembrance and celebration was held via zoom with a talk “Praying in Their Footsteps: Continuing the legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel” by Rabbi Isaama Goldstein-Stoll ’14. Musical tributes were given by The Carleton College Choir and by Mark Heiman ’92.

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration

The annual Day of the Dead Celebration was held on November 1, 2020 via zoom. Students from LASO led the service and constructed a memorial altar in the Chapel.
