In collaboration with IES, our partner institution in Berlin, as well as OCS and the German program at Carleton, the Center for Global and Regional Studies (CGRS) is helping to organize a number of four-week internships that will take place after the OCS Berlin program, from November 21, 2022 through December 16, 2022.

Internship Placement Areas

Placement areas for the Berlin Internship include: Architecture, Business, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Mass Media, and various Social Organizations.

Funding: The CGRS will provide all students $500 in support towards the above costs, plus up to an additional $500 based on financial need. The German program’s Kuennecke Fellowship can also support your internship; see here. The Career Center may also provide funding to support your internship; see here. Applicants should be creative in seeking their own funding. Most applicants will likely need to cover at least some of their own costs.

  1. Fill out the online application. Be sure to give your referee (person filling out your recommendation) at least a week to complete his or her recommendation.
  2. The review committee will notify you in early May about the status of your application. (If your application for a Berlin Program internship is not successful, that has no effect on other internship applications you might wish to make—for example, domestic internships via the Career Center.)
  3. If selected by Carleton, you will be asked to submit an acceptance form by June 10, 2022 to Anna Hagen (annahagen@carleton.edu).
  4. Internship program applicants must submit a completed IES Abroad Internship Application and resume to IES Abroad by July 15th, 2022.

Timely completion of all requested steps is crucial. If you miss deadlines, you will be responsible for any additional costs.
