Information for 2024-2025
In collaboration with partner institutions in Paris, the Center for Global and Regional Studies (CGRS) is offering a number of eight-week internships that will take place after the Paris program, from (approximately) June 2, 2025, through July 25, 2025.
These internships are custom placements within French work/research environments. Slots are available through a competitive evaluation. Typically, the Career Center covers nearly all costs of the internship (excluding airfare) through their funding process.
Internship applicant eligibility requirements

Estimated costs
This is an extraordinary experience that the college provides for students. We work very hard to keep fees as reasonable as possible, and the career center’s funding for internships helps support the costs of the program. Overall cost of the program varies between $6,000-8,000.

Student Visa (Campus France + Visa + Appointment) | $460 |

*Placement and support fees and homestay and foyer expense funds are transferred from the Career Center to CGRS for the Career Center Internship Grant award recipients, and paid in a lump sum. Other fees are paid directly by students.
Application Process
Fill out the online application no later than Monday, October 28, 2024. Be sure to give your referee (the person filling out your application recommendation) at least one week to complete his or her recommendation.
- The review committee will notify you on the status of your application shortly after all applications and recommendations have been submitted and reviewed.
- If selected by Carleton, to commit to the internship experience, you will be asked to submit the following documents to the CGRS (who will forward them to the internship matchmaker):
- CV in French (preferable) or in English (acceptable)
- Latest transcript (scan is sufficient)
- Cover letter with introduction and work interests as well as details on your background and preparation (past work or internship experience, practical training, course work)
- Other documents, as relevant
Timely completion of all requested steps is crucial. If you miss deadlines, you will be responsible for any additional costs. You may also put your visa in jeopardy, and thus forfeit your internship.
Specific placements will be determined with the internship matchmaker in the spring.
