Your Role In Advancing Inclusion, Diversity and Equity at Carleton

This interactive workshop invites participants to reflect on their role in advancing Carleton's inclusion, diversity, and equity (IDE) goals. Through guided discussions and practical tools, participants will deepen their understanding of fostering an inclusive environment, contributing to IDE efforts, and collaborating on a shared vision for continuous improvement. Whether new to these concepts or looking to enhance your contributions, this session offers valuable insights and actionable steps for meaningful impact

This is part of the IDE Community Education workshops and will count as the IDE education requirement. Registration will be required.

Aida Martinez-Freeman, Ph.D., is a Global Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB+) strategist, consultant, keynote speaker, and executive coach dedicated to empowering leaders and organizations through innovative, inclusive strategies. As the founder and CEO of The Taina Collective (powered Taina Coaching & Training), she helps leaders cultivate ease, balance, and fulfillment, inspiring a new, holistic approach to leadership.

With over 20 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Martinez-Freeman has supported diverse communities at institutions such as the University of Minnesota-Morris, Hollins University, North Dakota State University, and Macalester College. Her expertise includes cross-cultural communication, inclusive hiring and retention, workplace inclusivity, and burnout prevention.

Through The Taina Collective, she has collaborated with organizations such as the George Family Foundation, Girl Scouts of River Valleys, Northwestern Health Sciences University, the University of Minnesota, and the City of St. Paul. Her insights have been featured in Minnesota Women's PressThe Medium, the Journey to Self Podcast, the You Belong Here Podcast, and Resume Addict’s Instagram Live series.

Dr. Martinez-Freeman holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Michigan State University, a master’s in higher education and student affairs from Indiana University-Bloomington, and a doctorate in occupational and adult education from North Dakota State University.
