Carleton’s Adult ELL group provides a space for adult English-learners to practice their English through casual conversation. These community members are often students at the Northfield Community Action Center, and the hours they spend at Carleton help to raise funds for the community school.

Carleton volunteers act as conversation partners with community members, provide homework help, assist with preparations for GED exams, and provide assistance to adults studying for their citizenship test.

Volunteering with Adult ELL is an opportunity to get in touch with the community and make lasting friendships. No foreign language knowledge is necessary, nor is any prior experience.
