The Center for Community and Civic Engagement’s (CCCE’s) Community Based Work Study (CBWS) program connects Carls with local schools and non-profit organizations for their work study positions. Northfield’s Public Library works with 10 such student workers, including 2 Spanish Language Associates, David Toledo ’25 and Rafael Volkamer-Pastor ’27. David and Rafael’s versatile position allows them to take leadership within the community by leading free classes for Northfield locals on conversational Spanish, English, and tech skills for Spanish speakers. As part of a forthcoming video highlighting their work and impact at Northfield’s Library, these images feature David and Rafael’s classrooms. Follow the CCCE’s Instagram @CarletonCCCE to see the finished video once it’s released.
