Student research on food and poverty in Northfield featured in Washington Times posting

Consultant and Washington Times writer Donna Rae Scheffert wrote about the federal free and reduced lunch program last week, using student research in Northfield as a source. The report, entitled “Feeding Poverty: An examination of poverty in Northfield, MN through the lens of food,” was written by Carleton students Patty Dana, Inara Makhmudova, and Charlotte Turovsky for Adrienne Falcón’s Public Sociology class last Winter. Their work examines the relationship between poverty and nutrition using Northfield as a case study.
