Peoples Climate Solidarity March

6 May 2017

Last Saturday April 29th, around twenty Carleton students bused up to Minneapolis for the People’s Climate Solidarity March. The march, planned in solidarity with the D.C. march that drew more than 200,000 people, was scheduled for the 100th day of the Trump administration. Speakers at the beginning of the demonstration spoke about the detrimental effects of Trump’s administration to the environment, and how climate change connects to other issues such as racism and Islamophobia.
One Carleton student, Lauren Pflughoeft 17’, said she decided to go to the demonstration after attending the Northfield March for Science the week beforehand. “Climate justice and environmental change is something that I have been really passionate about and so I wanted to show that at a big city demonstration,” Pflughoeft said. “It’s been a lot of fun. I’m glad I’m here with a whole bunch of Carls.”
