On Tuesday, October 26th, local community leaders will meet to discuss possibilities for the development of Northfield’s Transit Corridor, including express bus and potential passenger rail service between Northfield and the Twin Cities. Charlotte Turovsky, Daniel Levy, and Logan Nash, who presented on transportation policy at the Project Pericles Debating for Democracy conference last Spring, are helping to facilitate the event.
This town hall style meeting will feature presentations by Rep. David Bly, Rice County Commissioner Galen Malecha, and City Council Member Erica Zweifel on transit projects already underway in southeastern Minnesota, regional interest in lifting the moratorium on the Dan Patch Rail Corridor Study, the success of the Northfield Metro Express bus, and options for restoring Northfield’s historic transit connection to the metro area.
The event is open to the public, and is organized by the Northfield-Metro Corridor Committee of the Northfield Grass Roots Transit Initiative in association with Carleton College, St. Olaf College and The Northfield Downtown Development Corporation.
