Check out the CHAT Calendar to see if the CHAT is available.
Fill out the reservation form to request use of the CHAT.
The CHAT is available free of charge for use by Carleton ACE courses and for Carleton faculty public scholarship. Other Carleton-associated users are welcome to reserve the CHAT (depending on availability), but will need to pay for hauling the CHAT from its storage location in Faribault. Round trip hauling to Northfield is $100, and additional mileage is $1.50/mile. The CCCE will arrange for hauling by licensed haulers. Please submit use requests with adequate advanced notice so we can arrange for hauling.
Carleton has scheduling priority during the academic year (Sept 10-June 8), and Rice County Historical Society has scheduling priority during the summer (June 9-Sept 9). Carleton manages the schedule and takes requests during our priority time – we do not typically schedule the CHAT during the summer.
If your planned project or event involves having minors (without a parent or supervising adult) in the CHAT, you will need to take the United Educator’s “Protecting Minors” training. The CCCE can provide you with additional information and the link to the training.
Please note the CHAT is not heated. We do not recommend using it outdoors during the winter. Due to liability, we unfortunately cannot rent the CHAT out to groups not associated with Carleton or RCHS.
