Summer opportunity: Be a Camp Sol councilor!
2 April 2010We are looking for Carleton students to act as Camp Sol counselors for the summer of 2010. Camps will run a total of ten weeks from June 21 to August 26, and students must be able to commit five afternoons per week. Carleton student making connections between Minn/Iraq children
10 November 2009Carleton student Mahal Burr has been working with non-profit org Children’s Culture Connection to facilitate a letter writing program between Iraqi children and students in the Cannon Valley Public Schools. A book about the correspondence entitled Dear Friend: U.S./Iraqi Kids Connect is being published and Burr will be signing copies at an event tomorrow.

Come learn more about the Minnesota Health Plan
27 October 2009Carleton Public Health Vista and ACE staff member Mohamed Bakri will be accompanying students to a public forum this Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 pm about the Minnesota Health Plan, a statewide plan to provide comprehensive healthcare for all Minnesotans. State Senator John Marty will be present to discuss his proposal and field questions from the public. Interested Carleton students, faculty, or staff should contact Mohamed via e-mail. ACE at Rice County Joint Government Meeting
27 October 2009This past Wednesday, Adrienne, Beth, and I attended the Rice County Joint Government Meeting, where representatives from the County Commission and all of the municipalities got together to discuss issues of shared importance. Federal Census representatives were present and helped clear up some confusions about the 2010 Census. That night’s discussions also gave rise to a number of ideas about how Carleton could get involved in ensuring that Northfield and Rice County achieve a complete and representative count.
