Carleton Alum Serving with the LVC!

4 September 2015

Recent alum Isabel (Izzy) Zeitz-Moskin (Religion ’15) is serving as a Community Organizer at DC Promise Neighborhood Initiative in Washington, DC. She’s serving with the Lutheran Volunteer Corps (“LVC”), a national service-leadership program uniting people to work for peace and justice.

LVC is committed to fighting oppression in all its forms, with a particular focus on anti-racism work. Volunteers with LVC receive housing, health insurance, two weeks’ vacation, a modest living stipend and additional training throughout the year. Carleton has enjoyed a long partnership with LVC.

In August, Izzy was among 104 volunteers at the LVC national orientation in Chicago. Volunteers experienced a week of intensive training and orientation on topics including anti-racism work, self-care, and intercultural communication. The volunteers then dispersed to 13 different US cities — each committed to a year of full time service with a particular social justice organization while practicing simple, sustainable living in household communities of four to seven people.

Check back later in the year to hear about Izzy’s experiences!
