Artists John Risseeuw and Megan Vossler present exhibition on war

22 October 2009

Vossler draws soldiers pulled from the web; Risseeuw campaigns against landmines with hand-made paper objects. Come see them both speak on the Carleton College campus Thursday night when the exhibition “War Work: Artists Address Iraq and Other Wars” opens. Risseeuw will begin speaking at 7:30PM in Boliou 104 and will be followed by Vossler.

Also, come on Friday afternoon from 1 to 2 PM to get up close with Risseeuw’s handmade paper pieces, which incorporate fabric from landmine victims’ clothing, plant fibers from far-flung areas of the globe afflicted with landmines, and money from countries producing landmines (for profit).  Engage with an artist who seeks to raise consciousness of this global tragedy. All are welcome to this hands-on session at the Printmaking studio in lower Boliou.
