Spring term brings flowers, chirping birds, and for the Carleton College West African Drum Ensemble, the opportunity to play outside. As an Academic Civic Engagement course, the group occasionally performs in the community in addition to their concert which occurs once a term during 10th week.
On May 7th, the ensemble traveled to Prairie Creek Elementary to perform for the students and staff on a gorgeous sunny spring day. After performing, the ensemble allowed the students to try out the drums and everyone had a blast! The following day, to help celebrate the opening of the newly renovated Northfield Public Library, the ensemble enjoyed another perfect spring day by playing at the library. Some students from Prairie Creek even came to watch a second performance! Fun was had by all; check out the photos to see for yourself!
