20 Years of Empty Bowls at Carleton

12 June 2024

The 20th anniversary of Empty Bowls at Carleton on May 10, 2024 raised over $34,000 for Northfield’s Community Action Center food shelf! The funds will provide over 200,000 meals for people in Rice County this year. Donations of 29 pots of soup, in addition to soup provided by Carleton’s dining services partner, Bon Appétit, helped fill the 880 bowls and 60 mugs that made their way into the hands of community members during the event. Organizing Empty Bowls is a true team effort, with the 16 students in the associated Academic Civic Engagement course joining an incredible team of ceramics student workers, Carleton staff and faculty, and other campus partners to create a deeply collaborative process. Congratulations to everyone involved on their important work this year and every year to help fight hunger in Rice County.
