Call for Faculty Development/Course Development Proposals for Arts and Technology

CArtT (Carleton Arts and Technology) is a new curricular initiative for the integration of arts and technology on campus. Funded through a grant from the Sherman-Fairchild Foundation, members of the CArtT committee are please to announce the availability of funds for summer research stipends for curricular and faculty development in the arts and technology.

Faculty may apply for stipends for up to $600 per week for two to six weeks for summer research to develop future courses or to incorporate technology in existing courses involving the arts and technology. The range of proposals is open, and can include (but is not limited to) stipends for learning new software, purchasing and implementing hardware, applying new technologies to new or existing courses involving the arts, or applying a study of the arts to classes already utilizing technology. Stipends may also be supplemented by funding requests for equipment, IT support (either by IT staff or student work), or related expenses.

There is no specified format for proposal submissions, but successful applications for CArtT curricular development grants will:

  1. Provide a clear and concise description of the project. This will include a description of faculty activity, the use of IT/PEPS/CAMS or other technical support personnel on campus, and utilization of new or existing equipment.
  2. Provide a working budget, including expenses related to equipment and IT support.
  3. Provide documentation of contact with some technical support person (e.g., staff from the Idea Lab, PEPS, CAMS support, or other).

Proposals should be submitted with the information listed above to Ron Rodman at: rrodman@carleton.edu. Deadline for proposals is Friday, February 8.
