Strategic Planning Update: Winter Term, Week 2

19 January 2023

The strategic planning coordinating committee and task forces have started meeting on a regular basis and will continue to populate the Carleton 2033 website and campus calendar with feedback sessions and open meetings. Last week, the task forces gathered for their first regular meetings of the term. Highlights include:

  • Community of Belonging Task Force | Finalized and shared a survey for its community advisors to identify common themes for further exploration
  • Advancing the Liberal Arts Task Force | Discussed research members completed about peer institutions and reviewed upcoming visits to various college committees
  • Expanding Carleton’s Reach Task Force | Met with CCCE staff for a conversation on the current work of the Center and possible opportunities for future collaboration with local and national communities

All task forces are also helping design the strategic planning retreat with the Board of Trustees on Feb. 11 and will join President Byerly’s meeting with parents and families on Jan. 31. While each task force will rely on their Community Advisors, as well as existing college committees and organizations, for feedback over the next two terms, task forces will also utilize online surveys and small focus groups to gather input from the community. All members of the Carleton community are invited to use the online feedback form at any time to submit thoughts about, and hopes for, Carleton.
